Arizona Bridge to Independant Living ("ABIL"), the Phoenix disability advocacy and education agency, authorized an environmental policy July 14 to be followed by staff and clients/consumers to their facilities and events.

Staff violating the policy will face disciplinary measures, although we don't know yet what that means.

Primary focus is to curb fragrance-emitting personal care products (like fabric softeners) worn by employees, and in facility cleaning and maintenance products.

Also it includes instructions to shut off cell phones and non-essential electronic equipment, and to use an incandescent lamp or daylight when requested to do so by consumers or co-workers. Staff already meets with consumers off-site or at home when the facility is inaccessible for any reason.

When requesting a copy specify whether you need regular print or large print (on paper), disk or e-mail.
